Sustainability Office Events Intern and Inter-Sustainability Council Executive Board Member

Meryl Press is a fourth-year double major in Political Science and Literature/Writing with a minor in Russian Literature. She plans on attending law school after UC San Diego and is interested in criminal and international law. Meryl chose to work in sustainability because she loves the Earth and believes that educating others about sustainability is critical to maintaining a cohesive and peaceful life for everyone. As the Sustainability Office Events Intern, Meryl works with student sustainability organizations, faculty and staff to help coordinate and develop projects and events to serve as the sustainability resource for UC San Diego’s student body. Meryl has developed and led events such as Green Talks, RecycleMania, the Annual UC San Diego Sustainability Earth Month Fair, Sustainability Awards and Inter-Sustainability Council’s quarterly networking sessions or "mixers."

Meryl is also an Executive Board member of the Inter-Sustainability Council, which is an umbrella organization for all campus student sustainability organizations. She has helped augment the organization from its inception by developing its internal and external structure. Her work has focused on communicating, recruiting and building relationships with member organizations and she has also planned, coordinated and lead events within ISC.
